Ishinca mountain

Ishinca mountain climbingIshinca (5,530m/18,143ft) is an enjoyable non-technical climb, and is commonly used as acclimatization peak for those planning to climb Tocllaraju (6,032m/19,790ft).  This moderately sized mountain is situated between two giants of the range, Ranrapalca (6,162m/20,217 ft) and Palcaraju (6,272m/20,577 ft).  It was first climbed in 1954 via its Southeast ridge, but the modern normal route is via the Northeast ridge.  Ishinca is reached from the Ishinca valley, the same valley that gives access to Tocllaraju and other climbable peaks making its base camp a very practical one.
